Blood of Heaven by Bill Myers

bloodofheavenReview by Jill Williamson

Michael Coleman is a convicted criminal on death row for murder. Dr. Philip O’Brien is the CEO of Genodyne, a biotech firm with a major gene therapy project. In the remains of an ancient religious artifact, mysterious blood has been discovered. Some believe it to be the blood of Christ. Experiments at Genodyne have led the scientists to a new a place where they are ready to try out their theory on a human.

At first Coleman thinks the scientists are nuts. The Blood of Christ? But he’s no fool. These doctors want him. He refuses to go along with their plans to use him as a human guinea pig unless he gets a pardon. It’s days before he hears back, but somehow the scientists have done it. They explain the particulars and inject Coleman with the substance that is thought to be part of God himself.

This was an awesome book. I loved how all the subplots worked together. Bill Myers confronts the topic of good and evil all the way to the heart of a man. Can an evil man change? Is there hope for everyone? I really liked this book and am excited that there are two more in the series. Recommended.
